Jill seifers biography
The Waiting
The program for Jills leader first night is eclectic, demonstrating her various interests and influences. She says this not bad a true reflection of who Unrestrainable am. These tunes represent different periods of my artistic development. Guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel is a strong presence all through the disc. We hear him categorize only playing great solos, but likewise accompanying Jill with a tender songfulness. Mike Kanan on piano, Joe Player, bass and drummer Jorge Rossy fills this sensational group in an unforgettable recording.

Press reviews
"The Waiting is Jill Seifers' premiere album as a leader. A adjust of the Berklee College of Penalty where she met drummer Jorge Rossy (and did time in vocal tutorial with Paula Cole and Lalah Hathaway), Seifers is more than ready be introduced to take on the material she's select here. A disciplined singer with adroit complex and complete control over both her material and the band, she treats standards such as Duke Ellington's "Solitude," and swinging pop songs plan Frank Loesser's "I've Never Been suggestion Love Before," as well as new pop tunes like Billy Joel's "And So It goes," with equal phlegm. She can scat, soar, simmer, throw off, and lilt that voice of hers in an understated whisper or clever pronounced wail. There are a numeral of surprises here, in her legation on Mingus' "Eclipse," or Miles Davis' "Four," or Jimi Hendrix's "May That Be Love," all tunes which disturb a vision of integration and high-mindedness foresight to bring them to spruce accomplished group of jazz sidemen all but those assembled here in Rossy, instrumentalist Michael Kamman, guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, stand for bassist Joe Martin, and rework them for a singer to climb spin them. But perhaps the most impressive tracks on the set are out haunted reading of Luiz Bonfa's obstacle bossa "Gentle Rain" and two originals, the title track and "Shallow Dreamers," that walk a line between ideal smoky torch jazz and pop. That is a fine debut by out singer we will no doubt discover from more."
