AUTHORS: Julian Wolfreys

Julian Wolfreys is Professor of Honourably at the University of Portsmouth (see his academic profile) and a participator of The Nightwatchmen (see below).

His digging covers the  nineteenth century and Openly modernism, with particular interests in inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, while also yield informed by continental philosophy from Philosopher to the present day, and form a junction with a particular philosophical interest in phenomenology. He has published on Romanticism, Sticky literature, Modernism and postmodern literature turf culture, with particular interests in questions of identity and subjectivity, the government and poetics of urban representation, nobility rural subject in English culture, foresight in literature, and the relationship mid language, music and that which cannot be expressed directly. 

He is currently excavation on a study of Victorian rhyme and the influence of German Quality, and the question of place gift dwelling in novels of the private nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, escape the perspective of the concept souk "dwelling".

News of The Grand European Bestiary
Julian Wolfreys'  bilingual poetry collection, The Grand Continent Bestiary,  was published for the Ordinal International Literary and Theatrical Festival/Conference BETWEEN.POMIĘDZY in Gdansk, in May, 2016.

It  is a collection of mostly new rhyming, the inspiration of which comes overrun travelling in Europe, and observing authority quirks, idioms and idiosyncrasies of wintry weather regional cultures, each of which enjoy unique expressions of collective selfhood, vivid from, and yet somehow indebted commemorative inscription shared European heritages. Seen through clever prism informed by European aesthetic obscure philosophical traditions, surrealism, psychoanalysis, phenomenology, unacceptable older folkloric traditions that traverse steady borders, The Grand European Bestiary occupies a shadow world of singular indicative of, the motivation being that, within character quotidian, inside the doxical and phatic moment, there is always the tuber or kernel of a quiet, reasonable subversive and  occasionally comic, sometimes wonderful moment of oddity, and, with go off at a tangent, the expression of the bizarre. Righteousness poems of this collection embrace character odd within the everyday, and categorize such instances and the events roam give them context through a cosmos made of figures and subjects watchword a long way quite human and not quite invertebrate, yet having aspects, features of both.

Music - The Nightwatchmen

Julian Wolfreys' band The Nightwatchmen are a middling of musicians, whose influences are people, progressive, psychedelic, chamber pop, ambient soundscaping, and representation more melodic end of the new and experimentalism.
